Wallpaper Sauber and Ferrari Continue Cooperation
Sauber interested in continuing their relationship with Ferrari when the new regulations the use of turbo V6 engine came into force in 2014, but they are concerned about the costs associated with such cooperation.
Formula One will switch from the 2.4-liter V8 engine to 1.6 liter V6s in 2014, but it seems only Ferrari, Renault and Mercedes set out to produce the power unit under the new regulations.
Sauber deal with Ferrari will expire the end of next season, but CEO Sauber, Monisha Kaltenborn said they are eager to continue working with the Italian manufacturer, even if they are worried about the possibility of price increases.
"It is a logical step for us to first go and talk with our machines today, because we have a long history together," said Kaltenborn, as reported by PlanetF1, Wednesday (08/08/2012).
"But all the open, because I do not think they themselves know about a specific condition. We have to wait," he explained.
Kaltenborg states, many of which must be considered before deciding to re-extend the partnership with Ferrari. He wanted to make sure the price and the engine development team will not make even a loss.
"Our position, I think because of all the machines have clear customer team, now the financial aspect is very important to us. We do not want to go back to the times when you are paying far more than today's machines," he explained.
"They (the supplier of the machine) will make it, so I think you have to find a just solution for customers and to suppliers, what you can do on engine development costs and prices," he concluded.
